NEXT RACE: JUNE 26th ARCA West Super Late Model racing at SUN VALLEY SPEEDWAY VERNON,BC

May 2nd, 2010

SHANE LEADS ALL 150 LAPS to take his biggest win of his career. The SHANE HARDING MOTORSPORTS Team opened the season with a Win at the beautiful Sun Valley Speedway in Vernon, BC.

An eight-car invert had Shane Harding #29 Starting on the outside of the front row. By the time Shane entered turn 1, he had cleared the inside car of Shannon Harding #1 (No Relation) to take the lead.

Shane would remain in the lead position throughout the entire race despite some hard pursuit by Jim White #18 for the early part of the race. The middle part of the race Shane was chased by Brian Levant #49 who was able to narrow the distance between himself and Shane while Shane saved his tires, but was never able to get close enough to make a pass attempt.

For the final 45 laps, his own father Pete Harding #39 (who had won the previous four races) focused on Shane’s bumper. The fastest laps of the race were run at the end of the race. As Pete increased his speed to catch Shane, Shane did the same and was able to hold off his father to take the checkered flag with Dad taking 2nd to his son for the 1st time in there racing careers.

PAST RACES

AUGUST 8TH 2009 WE RETURNED TO THE BEAUTIFUL SUN VALLEY SPEEDWAY VERNON BRITISH COLUMBIA FOR THE ARCA WEST NORTHWEST TOUR.  SHANE FINISHED A VERY STRONG 2ND PLACE LOSING BY ONLY .006 SECONDS TO HIS FATER PETE HARDING IN A VERY CLOSE SIDE BY SIDE FINISH

2008 has come and gone with us only racing a four select races. We finished the season with one win and three DNF's with two of the DNF's being engine related failures. As anyone who has followed our team, DNF's are not acceptable to our team especially when we lost an engine while leading the race. As a result of our engine dificulties we have a new engine for the 2009 season which starts this Saturday March 26th at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe Washinton.

2007 We finished the season in 2nd place missing the championship be a mere 12 points. The early season gremlins that plagued us for the first part of the season, created an immensely huge deficit that was just to much to overcome. Unbelievably the team came from way behind in points to nearly take our third championship in a row. We finished the season with 3 wins and 12 top fives.

2006 The result was another excellent championship winning season with us winning 9 out of 13 races at Evergreen speedway. This past season was a continuation of our 2005 season that was and still is an absolute dream season with us winning 10 races in 17 starts to earn the 2005 Super Late Model championship at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA.

In 2007 we had a record that we are very proud of, though all records will come to an end sometime. Going into the August 4th 2007 race we had a string of 61 Super Late Model races in a row without a DNF at Evergreen Speedway. The streak ended that night as on lap 148 with Shane running in 3rd, just as the white flag was set to waive, the rod end on Shane's rearaxle's panhard bar broke taking us out of the race.

Shane talks about his most embarrassing moment at the race track with XM radio’s NASCAR reporter Clair B Lang.  Click here for the interview.

Next up Super Late Model racing at Yakima Speedway Yakima Wa.

YAKIMA, Washington — Yakima Speedway, ASA Member Track, Yakima WA)- WIX Filters and Federated Auto Parts featuring Race #4 of the Yakima Speedway Super Late Model Challenge Series presented by Yakima Implement concluded with the father and son team of Shane and Pete Harding from Canada scoring the top podium positions. Yakima’s Erick Hargraves would follow up with an impressive Third place finish.

“Yakima Speedway is definitely one of my favorite tracks” said Shane “to pass Pete Harding on the outside for the lead I believe is many racers dream, and to finish first and second together was amazing. Last race I left a lot on the table racing Joey Tanner for the win and then getting a flat tire with 3 laps left was very discouraging. Our team shared our setup with dad, well most of it anyway, so we were glad to see that he was able to finish second. This is my first season series main event win at Yakima and I am so thankful for the Super Late Model Challenge Series that Doug Bettarel, Local Business owners and the Yakima Speedway management team have put together. Yakima Speedway is showcasing some of the best racing talent, and our strategy will be to stay consistent against the season regulars like Ron Bemis and Erick Hargraves”.

A 10 car invert put Hermiston’s Duke Langley on the pole for the 100 lap main event. By lap 3 Legendary Pete Harding would pass both Duke Langley and Ron Bemis for the lead with Shane Harding following close behind. Duke Langley who was having break problems would go off the back stretch on lap 5 with the rest of the field narrowly avoiding a pile up. On lap 8 Fred Hall from Bellevue Washington would lose all power bringing out the caution and resetting the field. On the restart Erick Hargraves would aggressively pass cars on the outside and gain two positions to claim the third spot. Reigning Track Champion and current point’s leader Owen Riddle who started in the ninth position due to the invert, steadily made his way up through the pack to the 5th position but a racing incident with last race winner Joey Tanner would put both cars a lap down and they would finish 8th & 11th. Kelly Mann who broke track record on May 15th but would later go on to blow a motor in race 3 ,set a new track record with a fast lap of 18.707 and finished in the fourth position along with first time competitor in the Yakima Speedway Super Late Model Challenge Series, Alex Kerslake rounding out the top 5.
