| AUGUST 5th NASCAR DODGE WEEKLY SERIES AT EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY MONROE, WA |
August 5th, 2006 In this weekends racing, nothing came easy for the ShaneCity racing team. A decision earlier in the week was made to not race the NASCAR Northwest Tour Elite division race at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls Idaho. The team is going to concentrate on winning their 2nd NASCAR Dodge weekly series title in the Evergreen Speedway Superstock division.
While normally running the Evergreen speedway Superstock races have been fairly easy for the team, this weekends double-header races were the exception as they were plagued by numerous problems. The team was very shorthanded on crew this past weekend. To make matters worse, a few of the crewmembers and Shane fell ill at the track with very sour stomach’s caused by bad restaurant food. Geoff and Tom really stepped up and took on the challenge of doing jobs normally done by others. They did an incredible job in getting the car ready for practice and after a disappointing 6th place qualifying position; they made numerous changes to get the car faster for the race.
Another problem plaguing the ShaneCity race team as well as all the teams at Evergreen Speedway was tires. Goodyear has been having problems lately delivering the quantities of tires needed by the race teams. As a result all the teams were required to run left side tires that were at least four years old. These tires provided very little grip and contributed to many problems to all the teams during the races.
In the evening’s first race on the 3/8-mile track, the invert would have Shane starting in the 10th position. Shane showed why it his most favorite track of all. Shane moved up at a blistering pace taking 2nd position on by lap 6, and then took the lead on lap 16 where he and his great competitor Roger Habich dueled until lap 50 with Shane taking his 6th win of the season.
In the 2nd 50-lap race of the evening, the invert had Shane starting 9th. Shane made quick work of it and moved to 5th on the first lap, and then to 2nd by lap twelve. On lap fourteen with Shane making a pass on the outside of the leader Tom Hughes, Tom car was unable to hold his line with the very poor grip provided by the four year old tires. Contact was made between the two cars with both spinning. Shane was able to make a full spin and keep on going without any cars passing him. This put Shane in the lead albeit temporarily. Unfortunately a new rule was implemented during this race that required any cars involved in a caution be sent to the back of the pack of lead lap cars.
Shane restarted the race in the 13th position on lap 17, he once again rapidly moved up positions taking 8th place on lap 25 staying there until lap 27 where he moved again to the 5th position by lap 29 only to find the flagman waving the checkered flag. Shane and his ShaneCity race team were very disappointed in the tracks unannounced decision to change the length of the race, as they felt very confident they had the fastest car on the track.
Shane and the ShaneCity race team apologizes to Roger Habich and his team for damage made to Rogers car during the race. Shane made a very bold pass through lead lap and lapped cars. Unfortunately Shane mistimed his pass and made contact with Rogers car. The resulting heavy contact caused substantial cosmetic damage to Rogers’s car. Shane is very sorry for the damage caused to Rogers’s car.
July 22nd, 2006 Shane finishes 24th in the NASCAR NORTHWEST TOUR ELITE DIVISION AT Yakima Speedway.

The weekend’s action was very hot as we took traveled to Yakima Speedway, the 1/2-mile oval in Yakima, WA. This 1/2-mile track is another favorite of ours as the Harding teams have consistantly run up front.
With the crew working in grueling 106 degree heat. The car was near perfect, as Shane would qualify 6th fastest. A ten car invert had Shane starting on the inside third row. At 9:00 PM for the start of the race, the temperature was still 95 degrees. The car's handling didn't react well to the higher than expected temperatures. Shane would remain in the top position all the way until lap 96 when a large crash on the backstretch blocked most of the track. While weaving through the spinning cars, Shane was hit from the rear and pushed into one of the spinning cars in front of him. The car suffered substantial damage though Shane was able to drive to the pits for two very quick pit stops all while remaining on the lead lap. A couple laps later a shower of sparks developed from the front of Shane's car, unfortunately confusion in the pits cost Shane many laps before the problem was found. The crews confusion in solving the cars problem cost Shane an easy top ten finish.

July 15th, 2006 SHANE FINISHES FOURTH IN THE NASCAR NORTHWEST TOUR ELITE DIVISION AT EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY AND WINS HIS FIFTH RACE IN A ROW IN THE 75 LAP NASCAR DODGE SUPERSTOCK WEEKLY SERIES.

This weekend’s action has us very excited as we took both cars to our home track, the 3/8-mile oval at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA. This tight little 3/8-mile track is a favorite of ours as we have 14 wins in our last 20 races on this difficult track.
With the crew working twice as hard preparing two cars for two races they were quite happy with the results. A full field invert had Shane starting last in the 75 lap Superstock event. Shane made quick work and rapidly moved up postions taking the lead on lap He maintained a comfortable lead all the way to to take the checkerd flag.
In the Nascar Northwest Elite division 125, Shane started in the fifth position and with an ill handling car, he was able to move to the forth position which is where he would finish the race. While Shane was happy with the finish, he knew that if the handling was correct it was his race to win.
We would like to give our thanks to Wired X Energy Drinks for suppling us with the needed energy to run both cars on a very warm day, and also to the many hometown fans who came out to the track and cheered us on.

July 8th, 2006 Shane wins his 4th race in a row. Shane and his dedicated ShaneCity race team returned to our home track Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA. Extremely long lines at the Canadian border crossing caused the team to arrive late at the track. The team had time to run only a few practice laps before needing to rush to technical inspections before qualifying. Shane started the race in the 5th position, moved to 4th on lap four and 3rd on lap five. Shane would remain in 3rd position for a number of laps while a fierce battle between Naima Lang in 1st and Doug Davidson in 2nd played out. Hard contact between the two cars allowed Shane to drive between the two spinning cars without hitting either one. With Shane taking the lead on lap 21 he was able to maintain a comfortable lead all the way to lap to take the checkered flag on lap 50. |
July 1st, 2006 Shane and his ShaneCity race team made the drive to beautiful Wenatchee, Washington. The track WVSO pictured below was very hot. The temperature was 106 degrees late in the day. The team struggled all day with the car and the heat. In practice despite many changes the car handled very poorly. In qualifying Shane was able to drive the car to a 20th starting position. This position would be very short as during the first lap the source of the cars poor handling would emerge and become much worse making the cars handling intolerable. Loose fasteners on the steering box were allowing the the steering rack to slide back and forth. A trip to pit lane confirmed what was wrong. After securing the loose fasteners, Shane reentered the race 12 laps down. Despite the now misadjusted steering rack, the car was much faster than before. Shane was able to maintain lap speeds equivalent to the top ten cars. Shane finished in the 23rd position 13 laps down. The team while unhappy with it's finish, was able to complete the race and bring home a straight racecar with no damage.

June 24, 2006 Shane dominates the Evergreen Speedway Buzz Inn Mid Season Championship Night.
A new track rule implemented to help even the competition had little effect on Shane and his ShaneCity race team. The new rule required the team to run a restrictor plate to reduce power. Despite this, the team missed qualifying on the pole by only 0.051 of a second. The invert would have Shane starting 4th. During the race Shane would make quick work rapidly moving to the front. Shane moved to 2nd on lap two and then took the lead on lap nine. Shane would maintain a comfortable lead all the way to lap 50 to take the checkered flag for his third win of the year. |

NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division Yakima Penguin Plumbing 125 June 17th. |
June 17, 2006 Shane and his dedicated team made the long drive from Canada to Yakima Speedway's Nascar Northwest Tour Elite division PENGUIN PLUMBING 125.
Shane, qualified the car 5th fastest out of 30 cars, a six car invert would put him on the outside front row. His front row starting position would be very short as a malfunctioning brake recirculator causing very spongy brakes, this problem would push him all the way back to 15th place before our luck changed and the brake recirculator started working again.
By late in the race, Shane had worked his way back through the field of very good drivers all the way to 7th place. He was confident of a top five finish until another car made a very poorly executed lane change, this other driver ran Shane up and off the track. Shane was able to get the car back on the track during the resulting caution remaining on the lead lap in 20th place.
Shane worked his way though lapped traffic and lead lap cars to finish in 13th place on the lead lap. While the team was disappointed in the finish. The problems the team had were caused by someone else and not of our doing.
June 10, 2006 In this past weekends race, Shane and his dedicated team made the long drive from Canada to Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls (Southern) Idaho, for the Nascar Northwest Tour Elite division Pepsi 125.
After a very busy afternoon of Nascar technical inspections, practice session's and the team making many changes to the car, the car was only 24th fastest out of 33 cars in practice. The team was confident that Shane's car would be much faster with new tires during qualifying. While the team was very confident they would be faster, they had no idea how much faster. Shane nearly grabbed the pole position on his first lap around the the banked 1/3 mile track, with his second lap uncharacteristically being not as good as the first. Shane and team were extremely happy as his first lap placed him the 2nd fasted qualifier out of the 33 cars on hand.
A ten car invert would put Shane starting on the inside of the 5th row. Shane's plan was for him to conserve his tires while making his way to the front. Shane was able to work his way to 8th before hitting a piece of metal debris on the track. The debris stayed there until coming loose on lap 80 puncturing the right front tire and causing a very hard hit into the turn 1 wall. The hardworking crew was able to make quick repairs to the damage, getting Shane back on the track 6 laps down. Shane with his damaged car were easily able able to maintain minimum speeds, all the while staying out of the race leaders way content to finish the race without getting in the way of any lead lap cars.
While the team was not excited about their finish, they were far from being disappointed. The team knows they are on the right track to collect there first win.

Shane Harding wins his 2nd race in a row at Evergreen Speedway. Shane and his team found extremely long lines at the Canadian border. They arrived very late at the track knowing they had missed all practice sessions.
Despite missing all practice and not being able to scuff the new sticker tires. The team bolted on the sticker tires and sent Shane out to qualify. Shane and his great handling car set fast for the third race in a row, running a 17.511 second lap on the 3/8's mile track. For the 50 lap main event, Shane found himself starting eighth due to the invert , he made quick work of the cars in front of him with him taking the lead on lap 15, then remaining out front unchallenged all the way to take the checkered flag. |

May 27th found the winner to be the rain. The team arrived in Yakima to find persistant rain showers, the race was cancelled being re-scheduled for June 17th. A decision was made by the team to make the four hour drive back to Canada, make a fast switch of cars and equipment (25 minutes) . Then make the two hour drive to Monroe for the Late model race. Once again the team arrived at the track to find that rain showers had started with the forcast for more rain resulted in the cancellation of that race as well. |
